Chemistry | Entering Year: 2024

An incoming PhD student in Chemistry, Emma Groetecke seeks to solve problems in medicine and materials science through the development of novel organic molecules and polymers. As an undergraduate, Emma researched unique approaches to antineoplastic agents, applying techniques in chemical biology, synthetic organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. Emma is committed to interdisciplinarity in her research projects and is constantly seeking to expand her knowledge, which led her to work as a Research Associate in the Computational Division of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2023. Emma completed a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky in 2024 and was awarded the Chemistry Department’s 100% Plus Award due to her dedicated research, leadership, and teaching assistantship.
