Jess Camacho (she/her) is a PhD student in the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences with a focus on Cancer Biology. She earned a BA in Biochemistry from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2024. Jess joined the Silva-Fisher Lab in May 2025, in the Division of Oncology at the School of Medicine, where she now focuses on long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and RNA modifications in the context of late-stage relapsed breast cancer. During her time at WashU, she hopes to mentor students like her (first-generation students of color) in the science and research fields. She hopes to contribute to making science more accessible and more inclusive for people of underrepresented backgrounds.
