Morgan Van Vleck is a PhD student in the Social Work program at the Brown School. In their PhD studies, Morgan will focus on research that aims to improve the care continuum and patient experiences from serious illness through end-of-life. Morgan is interested in research focused on digital innovations for end-of-life and aging, and their impact on patient and caregiver experiences, policy implications, and related ethical issues. Their work centers on elevating the needs and experiences of marginalized older adults and individuals with serious illness in palliative, hospice, and long-term care settings, with a focus on LGBTQ+ individuals. Morgan holds BA degrees in both Philosophy and Religion and Communication Studies from Truman State University and a Master of Social Work from the Brown School at WashU. Following graduation, Morgan worked as a social worker for BJC Hospice and at SAGE USA (Advocacy and Services for LGBTQ+ Elders), where they supported research initiatives and projects.
