Sophie Davis is a PhD student in late medieval and early modern history. She graduated with her BA from Florida State University, where she majored in English Literature with minors in French, History, and Medieval Studies. Her undergraduate Honors Thesis focused on the ritual act of the oath in Le Roman de Silence, a 13th century French romance. After graduating, she began her career as a public-school teacher in Florida, where she gained valuable firsthand insight into the impact of education on young people’s lives.
As a researcher, she focuses on the intersections of power and religion in late medieval daily life. With her previous experience in English, she intends to pursue a deeply interdisciplinary approach to the Middle Ages, utilizing the medieval literary imaginary as a tool to understanding history.
