Faculty Work Life Survey

The Faculty Work Life Survey is administered to faculty, and asks about various aspects of faculty work life, climate, workload, sources of stress, mentoring and characteristics of life outside the institution.

For WashU faculty, a dashboard is available to view for the three most recent administrations.

This survey is confidential but not anonymous. The Institutional Research and Analysis (IR&A) team in the Office of the Provost takes great care in protecting the privacy of all faculty who participate in this survey. Only the IR&A team will know if you responded to the survey and have access to your survey data. It will not be shared with any other individuals or units.

These resources are intended for the use of WashU administrators and faculty, for the purpose of institutional improvement. They are not intended for use in any work that meets the federal definition of research.​


Population surveyed: Full time faculty, and Medical campus faculty with voting rights.

When conducted: About every four years, most recently in 2023, 2019, 2015, and 2011.
