Leendert (Leo) Schrader is a Ph.D. student in Mathematics and a St. Louis native. He graduated summa cum laude from Saint Louis University with a B.S. in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. While at Saint Louis University, his research explored partial differential equations, complex and functional analysis, and phase retrieval, along with interdisciplinary work in quantum optics, environmental science, and engineering pedagogy. During this time, Leo also co-founded the Calderón Project Lab, a mentored undergraduate mathematics research group focused on analysis in interaction with applications, with the goal of expanding access to mathematical research opportunities in the greater St. Louis area.

In his current research, he studies elliptic partial differential equations, bounded extremal
problems in irregular geometry, as well as algorithmic approaches to phase retrieval. Leo is also an NSF Graduate Research Fellow.
