Travis Howard is a PhD student in the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering. He
graduated summa cum laude from Texas Tech University in 2024 with a Bachelor of
Science in Physics. While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree, he conducted condensed matter
theory research on quantum annealing with superconducting qubits, which solidified his
passion for theory and computation. As part of the M-Cube research group at WashU, he
aims to discover and design novel materials by combining computational methods with
scanning transmission electron microscopy. His goal is to contribute to the development
of next-generation electronic and magnetic materials, such as ferroelectric semiconductors and chalcogenide perovskites, with applications in energy, sensing, and information technologies.
