Yanrun Zhou is a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at McKelvey School of Engineering. She received her BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Connecticut and her MS in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. Her interdisciplinary training bridges molecular and cellular biology with engineering principles, providing a foundation for studying biological systems from a quantitative and mechanistic perspective. Her research focuses on how cells sense and respond to physical and biochemical cues in their environment. In particular, she is interested in how biomolecular condensates organize and regulate cellular processes. By integrating approaches from biology, biophysics, and engineering, her work aims to better understand how these dynamic molecular structures influence cellular function in both normal and disease contexts.
