Amy Miyahara is a PhD student in the Psychological and Brain Sciences department. She graduated from Stanford University with a BA in psychology and a minor in education, where she completed an honors thesis investigating children’s beliefs about social mobility. She then served as a lab manager at the University of Notre Dame, where she studied math cognition and helped connect elementary- and middle-school students in the South Bend community to high-impact, evidence-based tutoring. Her current research focuses on how children understand social identities (e.g. race, gender, and socioeconomic status) and social parities, with the overarching goal of preventing the development of prejudice and bias.
