Gavin Newberry is a doctoral student in Public Health Sciences at the Bursky School of Public Health and a Graduate Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine. He earned his master’s degree in Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he developed a passion for applying a public health approach to mental health and behavior, particularly in understanding how trauma shapes mental and physical health. In his current research, Gavin applies epidemiological methods to examine the effects of trauma on adverse health behaviors and health outcomes across the lifespan and among diverse populations.
