Anna Spracklin is a PhD student in the Movement Science Program within the Department of Physical Therapy. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of Minnesota in biomedical engineering. There, she performed research in shoulder biomechanics and modeling, which inspired her to pursue physical therapy and research. This led Anna to Northwestern University for her doctorate in physical therapy. She worked as a physical therapist and, through working with patients with shoulder pain, decided to return to research to contribute to the body of evidence to support physical therapy assessment and intervention for individuals with shoulder pain. Her current research is focused on how shoulder morphology and kinematics affect joint mechanics in individuals with shoulder pain to ultimately inform treatment strategies and improve physical therapy outcomes.
