Callie Boren is a PhD student in Speech and Hearing Science and a fourth year extern in the AuD program. She graduated as a University Scholar from Baylor University in 2021 with concentrations in communication sciences and disorders, neuroscience, and medical humanities. Her combined interests in the physiological mechanisms of hearing loss, the socioemotional impacts of communication disorders, and the concept of whole-person care, all in addition to her experiences as a person with hearing loss, formed the basis for her research focus, which is on mitigating factors of hearing-related activity limitations, participation restrictions, and empowerment
