Evan Batteas is a PhD student in the Physics PhD program. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Physics in 2025. During his undergraduate degree, he worked on a variety of astrophysical research projects, such as designing and building a spectrograph that utilizes an asymmetric Offner relay, characterizing differences in Type 1a supernova in the UV spectrum, and several projects on different forms of dark matter. His research interests lie in dark matter phenomenology and astronomical instrumentation. He is also interested in international collaboration through research, as well as mentorship of students. He hopes to narrow down our prospects for dark matter during his time at WashU and go on to be a professor. During downtime, he enjoys reading, writing, video-game development, and running.
