Joseph Adjei is a first-year PhD student in the Plant and Microbial Biosciences (PMB) program seeking to explore intracellular/intercellular communication within organisms, with the aim of improving food security and human condition. He is a deaf student from Ghana, West Africa. Joseph received his BS with Honors in Biomedical Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2022 and was a Sasakawa-DeCaro Scholar. He joined the Burch-Smith Lab at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center as a remote data analyst. Besides research, he mentors and engages in social development causes in his community, and he hopes to spearhead science education for the Deaf in Ghana.
