L. Irene Compadre, PLA ASLA is the Founding Principal & Design Director of Arbolope Studio, an award-winning Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Public Art practice based in St. Louis, MO and Lyon, France. As an experimental firm that prioritizes ecological resilience and social equity, Arbolope’s civic-centered work ranges from intimate public parks to large-scale campus transformations. Beyond the studio, Compadre mentors students through her role as a Professor of Practice in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. A latinx practitioner, Compadre firmly believes in the power of community-engaged design and the potential for public spaces to meaningfully contribute to people’s lives.
